SNPLMA Trails and Parks Program - City of Las Vegas, Nevada

Griffin Structures is providing program management of federally funded SNPLMA (Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act) parks and trails for the City of Las Vegas, NV. The project, with an aggregate total value of $30 million, includes 5 trails projects and 2 park projects being design concurrently. Griffin’s duties included selection of project design team (RFP), coordination for design, right-of-way acquisition, bid administration and construction management services for the parks and trails projects. Representative components of the overall program include: Project Area: Boulder Park Plaza Griffin Structures is managing this project as part of the SNPLMA work for the City of Las Vegas. Under Griffin management, the selected architect is providing design, bid phase support, and construction observation services to the City’s Boulder Park Plaza project. This project will create a pedestrian-only plaza that will showcase several sculptures and a neon sign museum in the Arts District. Design services include mapping, demolition planning, plaza surface design, drainage, landscape architecture, plaza lighting, electrical undergrounding, and architectural treatments for the plaza surface. Project Area: Cedar Drainage Channel Griffin Structures is managing the design and delivery of a 1.8 mile trail for the City of Las Vegas along a concrete lined drainage channel. Griffin Structures is also working closely with the Design consultant to develop strategies to eliminate the typical bottlenecks in the traditional design review process. The project includes a linear entry feature, a 10-foot wide asphalt trail, landscaping, irrigation, rock mulch, dog clean-up stations, innovative trash receptacles with substantial below-ground storage capacity, and solar-powered luminaries along the trail. The team has worked closely with City staff to provide a trail that is attractive, easy to maintain, and provides ready access for swift water rescues and policing functions.
