Senior Center Needs Assessment - Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc.
This project began as an analysis of senior center requirements under contract to the Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. In this phase of work, Griffin first evaluated the needs for new facilities, and made extensive comparison of these needs to the senior center facilities in neighboring communities. The study entailed analysis of demographics, program alternatives, social profiles of facilities users, and other components. Following the needs assessment, an architectural program was developed that represented the best approach to meeting the needs of the group, as well as the evolving requirements projected into future years.
Following the initial engagement, the City of Laguna Beach expressed needs for new community center facilities that could be incorporated with, but kept separate from, the senior center components. Griffin then participated with the City in incorporating City requirements into the total program.
Following the needs assessment phase, Griffin assisted the City in an RFP process and selection of a qualified architect to work in the development of design alternatives, analysis of massing and streetscape impacts, and facility conceptualization. The project is currently in the design development stage.
