The Crean Family Farm at the Santa Ana Zoo, Prentiss Park - Santa Ana, CA

This project consisted of expansion of the Santa Ana Children’s Zoo, and includes a “centerpiece” pre-fabricated barn for animal exhibits and classroom space. The project was originally budgeted at $3.5 million and due to funding limitations, Griffin was engaged to examine the project and recommend approaches to build the project for the available funds. As program and construction manager for the project, Griffin implemented an innovative prefabricated-building approach to the primary structures, using a working barn building in place of a custom design. The new structure was modified so that the elevator is located in the silo, and other unique and child-friendly features are provided. The $2.8 million project project was financed by a combination of public funds and private donations, and responsibilities include coordination of information to donor groups.
