Cypress Community Center Renovation / Expansion - City of Cypress, CA

Griffin was contracted by the City as Program Manager at Risk to analyze, design, and deliver certain renovations and expansions to the existing Community Center. Total project budget is $6.8 million (gmp). The original 1974 building includes 18,978 square feet of community support spaces and a 3,972 square foot Auditorium with kitchen facilities available for public use, classrooms, dance rooms, arts and crafts rooms and support spaces. The facility serves as the administrative offices for the City’s Recreation and Parks department. The City determined that the auditorium needs to be expanded to 5,568 square feet. In addition, the facility is in need of a complete interior renovation and modernization of all the interior finishes, doors, hardware, lighting and mechanical systems. The modernization includes new ADA code compliant restrooms and other miscellaneous code updates. Several upgrade features are included in the project scope, including a new entry system, a complete renovation of the entry courtyard and auditorium patio, replacement of perimeter landscaping and expansion of the existing parking lot. New and improved low-maintenance sustainable interior finishes, electrical power, lighting, data telecommunications, audio visual and mechanical systems will result in greater efficiency for the City and their staff. Expansion and exterior improvements to increase and enhance the parking lot and adjacencies to the existing park.
